Updated breaks and fractures on clay cobra figurines

Still updating fractures on ancient cobras. One of the problems is that only ones with photos can be included. So far, that means 395 out of 725. Various unanticipated problems arise as well. For example, there are some cases where two pieces have been joined and given one number. Does this imply that the break occurred after the pieces were excavated? It is unclear though in some cases the edges seem to be worn down enough that this seems to the be case.

Here is an example of what the fields look like in the database. The options for breaks are "across," "diagonal", "other" and "N/A." If we see any patterns in "other" we can then subdivide this too ... The example cobra used for the template is from the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung (Berlin) number ÄM 21961. This is the same one that we used as a template for the replicas that we made. The one for which the breaks are shown is from Beth Shean 188215 (figurine published in David, A. (2009), 'Clay Cobras: Ramesside household cult or apotropaic device?', in Nava Panitz-Cohen and Amihai Mazar (eds.), Excavations at Tel Beth-Shean 1989–1996: The 13th–11th century BCE strata in areas N and S (Jerusalem: The Israel Exploration Society The Institute of Archaeology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem), 556-60.)
